What is an LED strip controller?

An LED controller is a device used to control LED strip lighting functions such as brightness, color changing, color temperature adjustment, and lighting effects. Controllers are commonly used with RGB, RGBW, and RGB+CCT LED strip lights.

Do I need a controller for LED strip lights?

Single color LED strips usually do not require a controller unless dimming is needed. RGB, RGBW, and RGB+CCT LED strips always require a compatible controller.

What is the difference between RGB, RGBW, and RGB+CCT controllers?

RGB controllers:
Control color changing (Red, Green, Blue)

RGBW controllers:
Control RGB colors plus dedicated white channel

RGB+CCT controllers:
Control RGB colors plus adjustable white color temperature

RGB+CCT controllers provide the most flexibility.

What is a CCT controller?

CCT stands for Correlated Color Temperature. CCT controllers allow adjustment between warm white and cool white lighting.

Example:
2700K to 6500K adjustable lighting.

What is an RF remote controller?

RF (Radio Frequency) remotes allow wireless control without needing direct line of sight. They typically have better range than infrared remotes.

What is a WiFi LED controller?

WiFi controllers allow LED strip lights to be controlled through a smartphone app. Many WiFi controllers also support smart home integration.

Can one remote control multiple LED strips?

Yes. Many controllers allow multiple receivers to be paired to one remote.

How far can LED remotes work?

Typical RF remote range: 30–100 feet (10–30 meters)
Depending on environment and obstacles.

Do LED controllers require a power supply?

Yes. Controllers must be connected between the LED driver and LED strip.

Connection order:
Power supply → Controller → LED strip

Can I use any controller with any LED strip?

No. The controller must match:
Voltage (12V or 24V)
LED type (RGB, RGBW, CCT)
Output capacity
Always verify compatibility.

What is an SPI LED controller?

SPI controllers are used for addressable LED strips where each LED can be controlled individually to create dynamic lighting effects.

Are LED controllers easy to install?

Yes. Most installations involve:
Connecting power input
Connecting LED strip output
Pairing remote
Basic wiring knowledge is recommended.

Do LED controllers support dimming?

Yes. Most controllers allow brightness adjustment along with color and lighting effects.

What accessories may be needed with controllers?

Common accessories include:
Remote controls
Signal receivers
Extension cables
LED drivers
Connectors

How do I choose the right LED controller?

Consider:
LED strip type
Voltage compatibility
Control method (remote, WiFi, wall)
Number of channels
Project requirements
