What is an LED driver?

An LED driver is a power supply that converts AC voltage into DC voltage required to safely operate LED strip lights and other low-voltage LED products. It regulates power to prevent overheating and ensures stable performance.

What is the difference between an LED driver and an LED transformer?

LED drivers and LED transformers are often used interchangeably. Generally:

LED Driver → Constant voltage or constant current power supply for LEDs
LED Transformer → Another name often used for LED power supplies, especially in lighting applications

For LED strip lights, constant voltage drivers (12V or 24V) are most commonly used.

How do I choose the correct LED driver?

To select the right driver:
Add total wattage of your LED strip
Add 20-30% safety margin

Example:
LED strip uses 80W

Recommended driver:
100W – 120W

This prevents overload and extends lifespan.

What voltage LED driver do I need?

Always match the LED strip voltage:
12V LED strip → 12V driver
24V LED strip → 24V driver

Never mix voltages.

Are your LED drivers UL listed?

Yes. Our LED drivers and transformers are UL or UL-recognized for safety and reliability.

Are your LED drivers dimmable?

Many of our drivers support dimming including:
TRIAC dimming
ELV dimming
MLV dimming
0-10V dimming

Always check product specifications for dimming compatibility.

Can I use a higher wattage driver?

Yes. Using a higher wattage driver is safe.

Example:
Strip uses 60W
Driver can be 100W

This improves durability.

Can I use a lower wattage driver?

No.

Using a smaller driver may cause:
Overheating
Driver failure
Flickering
Always size properly.

Are your drivers suitable for indoor and outdoor use?

We offer both:
Indoor drivers (IP20)
Outdoor drivers (IP65 / waterproof)

Check IP rating before installation.

Can LED drivers be installed inside a junction box?

Yes. Many of our compact drivers are designed to fit inside standard 4-inch junction boxes for clean installations.

How long do LED drivers last?

Typical LED drivers last:
30,000 to 50,000 hours

Proper sizing and ventilation increases lifespan.

Do LED drivers get hot?

Drivers may become warm during operation. This is normal.

Ensure:
Proper ventilation
Do not cover driver
Avoid enclosed tight spaces

Can one driver power multiple LED strips?

Yes, as long as total wattage stays within driver capacity.

Example:

Driver 150W
3 strips × 40W = 120W

Safe.

What safety features do your drivers include?

Most drivers include:
Overload protection
Short circuit protection
Over temperature protection
Stable voltage output

Do I need a dimmer with my driver?

Only if you want brightness control.

If driver is dimmable:
You may add compatible dimmer.

If not:
Use standard on/off switch.
